Daniel W. Emery

Dan Emery has been a lawyer since 1980. He graduated from Williams College and Cornell University School of Law. He practiced at a large firm for 11 years, and has had his own office in Yarmouth, just outside Portland, since 1992. Since opening his office, he has predominantly done disability work, and currently practices exclusively in that area. He worked on a Social Security case as far back as law school, and worked for the Social Security Administration for a time before that. He finds Social Security work the most rewarding legal work he has done.

Dan was recognized for his leadership in the field when the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) elected him President of its Board of Directors in 2016. He’s been a longtime member of NOSSCR and served on the board before taking on the role of president.

He lives in North Yarmouth with two Dalmatians.

Brenda Paquet

Brenda Paquet is a native of Maine and has 27 years’ experience working in the legal field as a legal assistant. She began her career in Waterville in a law firm that specialized in criminal law and litigation, and then relocated to Portland, Maine, working in various areas of law including municipal, real estate and civil litigation.

After her son was born, she operated her own daycare for six years. From there, she returned to the legal field working for Dan and has been with him for 17 years.

Transitioning from litigation and other areas of law, she realized that Social Security Disability was bringing her closer to everyday people with more personal issues. The impact of winning a case for people with disabilities is very rewarding and she plans to do this for the rest of her career.
